Well that's not surprising. Applying for an Apprenticeship is a big deal, and it's important to know what's what.

Here you will find answers to the questions we are most often asked - things like what kind of stuff apprentices do, what it's like working for a big company, and whether you are the sort of person we are looking for.

Hopefully these responses will tell you what you want to know.

FAQs

What are the entry requirements?
You must be aged 16 or above on 1st September 2008.

All apprenticeships (except higher apprenticeships) have a minimum entry requirement of between 3 and 5 GCSEs at grade G or above (or equivalent qualifications), including English Language and Maths. Higher apprenticeships require 2 A levels or equivalent (including Scottish Highers, must be graded C and above), at least one of which must be in Business Studies, Maths, Computing, IT, Electronics, Physics or Combined Sciences.

Visit the ‘What will I be doing’ section to find the exact requirements for each role.

Can I apply if I don't have the minimum grades required?
Unfortunately no, we only accept applications who are expected to achieve or have achieved the specified minimum (or equivalent) requirements.

How long do Apprenticeships last?
Up to 3 years (3.5 years for Vehicle Maintenance).

What will my Apprenticeship involve?
You will be expected to achieve an NVQ in your chosen work area, a Key Skills qualification and a BTEC (or similar) further education qualification or technical certificate, normally on day release. Those on the higher Apprenticeship scheme will study for a foundation degree.

When can I start my Apprenticeship?
The start date for successful applicants will be summer 2008.

What work areas are you recruiting into?
Service Technician, Network Designer, Data and Networks Technician, Office Based Technician, Installation and Support Technician, Vehicle Maintenance Technician, Business Administration, and Customer Service. Visit the ‘What will I be doing’ section for details of what the roles involve.

Where are the vacancies located?
