Benefits and training

We invest more than £12 million a year in training for our people – but that’s only half the story. They often learn as much on the job as they do in the classroom.

To support and encourage the entire learning process, we’ve introduced a number of professional communities, each focused on one of the skill areas that’s important to us. They provide a solid base where like-minded people with similar skills, experience and interests can learn together, develop each other and create new methods and tools.

Each community is led by a recognised industry expert, who defines the professional development paths that individuals need to follow. This means that, even when moving from assignment to assignment, everyone can see clearly how to progress his or her career, while the business itself has a clear view of any forthcoming skills gaps it will need to address.

Every member of the community has a coach – someone knowledgeable in the field who’s responsible for helping you plan your career and develop action plans for your future.

There are also a number of full-time community development managers within each community, available to provide support to the coaches and development for individuals when they need greater coaching – for example, during any period between assignments.

In a pioneering environment where the onus is very much on self-development, the community provides a home, a sense of direction and leadership to help you further your own career, learn from others and be recognised as an expert in your field.
