Job title: Undertakings Programme Manager
Business Unit: BT Wholesale
Joined: July 2005
I came to BT from a role as EMEA Operations Manager in a large US media group. What made BT the next career choice for me was the BT fast track programme - whatever your personal and professional ambitions, BT has the scale and will to accommodate them.
I'm currently working on the culture changes that have resulted from our Undertakings with Ofcom. My focus is on the spirit of these undertakings, and empowering people to engage with and commit to what the changes mean for them I'm also looking at how our behaviour needs to change to take BT into a new era of customer centricity and unregulated growth. This initially meant working with several Programme owners in the regulatory world, but more and more means aligning with each Wholesale business unit to support their commitment to behaviour change. I work between BT Wholesale Headquarters in the City, and home in Manchester.
Our business is all about change. Every day, extraordinary opportunities exist to build or burn the bridges between the way we used to work and the way we want to work in the future. Right now BT Wholesale is going through a metamorphosis after the establishment of Openreach and our identity is changing more than ever before. We're focused on the generation of external revenue and enhancing our ability to deliver professional services in partnership with our customers.
The key lies in not seeing change as an inconvenience - it's evolution. We can personally influence it by acquiring new skills as situations or climates change in the organisation. While we may not always have control over 'what' changes, we always have control of 'how' we take ownership of it, and we can bring people with us.
