BT has formed a strategic partnership in FOSSBazaar , an open source community and workgroup of the Linux Foundation. FOSSBazaar develops and shares best practice and tools to support the effective governance of free and open source software (FOSS) across the business community. The group aims to accelerate the adoption of free and open source software in commercial organisations, and provides general advice and guidance in support of this.
As a strategic partner of FOSSBazaar, BT will dedicate free consultancy time and assistance to the forum, as well as contributing to white papers.
As a company, BT is committed to using free and open source software throughout its entire organisation and is engaged in numerous FOSS projects, events and initiatives. BT itself is moving from being a traditional telco to a software-driven communications services company, and through active participation in the open source community hopes to play a key role in advancing the state of the art.
"Open source is vital to BT's transformation and the wider software community at large,” said Jeremy Ruston, head of open source innovation in BT Design. “We hope that our active community of software developers at BT continue to develop free and open source software".
